2 Soldiers have been arrested for threatening to molest women in Warri

Two Nigerian soldiers seen in a viral video using uncouth and uncivilized language while threatening to molest women in Warri, Delta State and infect them with HIV have been arrested.



The soldiers were arrested at 9 Brigade Ikeja Military Cantonment Lagos State today 3 April 2020 and according to the Nigerian Army, investigation into the circumstances surrounding the video is ongoing.

The soldiers had threatened to embark on a spree of molestations the attack on some of their colleagues and the alleged killing of one of them over the reckless way a youth leader, Joseph Pessu.

Pessu was gunned down while out and about in Ugbuwangue community in Warri, Delta state during the on-going 14 days sit at home order imposed by the state government.

The death of Pessu sparked an outrage among the youths of the community who attacked some of the soldiers in retaliation and allegedly killed one of them.

Army spokesperson, Colonel Sagir Musa while reiterating that the Nigerian Army will not tolerate any form of irresponsibility and indiscipline on the part of any of its personnel, assured the public that they have been arrested.

According to Sagir, investigations will be swift and fair in accordance with military laws upon which the outcome will be not only be made public but the appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken against them.
