Chinese authorities accuse Europe of being responsible for the latest outbreak of Covid-19 in Beijing

According to Chinese officials, European nations are solely responsible for the latest COVID-19 outbreak in Beijing, this is coming amid fears of a second wave of the deadly bug.

An official of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Mr. Zhang Yong is actually the person who revealed this development in an article that the Chinese Central Commission for Discipline Inspection published recently.

Preliminary genomic and epidemiological study results show that the virus is from Europe.

However, it is still different from the virus presently spreading in Europe," he said in the government memo on today Friday, the 19th day of June 2020.

According to Mr. Zhang Yong, the virus in Beijing now is older than the virus currently spreading in Europe.

You will recall that the Beijing had not reported any locally transmitted infections for two months now; it was just last week when a fresh cluster of coronavirus cases emerged from a market place where they sell wholesale foods in the city, and it infected well over 180 persons already as of today.

Recall that the city is well populated to the tune of over 20 million people, as a result, the city has been placed under a partial lockdown for now until further notice.

Hence authorities have to reintroduce restrictive measures by sealing off several markets and closing schools in a bid to stop and curtail the spread of this disease.

According to laid down standards, officials have also tested about 356,000 people as of today, starting five days ago.
