Former Nigeria President Obasanjo Address Nigerians about COVID-19.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has been trying their best in order to prevent the spread of this deadly disease in Nigeria.

The COVID-19 pandemic has cost lots of lives not only in Africa but around the world.

Nigerians were warned by the Ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo not to fail the lifting of restrictions on lock down against the coronavirus pandemic, stating that Nigeria is not out of the COVID-19 yet.

He gave the warning at the 2020 Annual Sobo Sowemimo Lecture at the Abeokuta Club in Abeokuta yesterday where he was the guest lecturer.

Obasanjo described COVID-19 as a deadly disease that Africa in general was not well prepared and poorly equipped for.

Saying that coronavirus may not disappear from the surface of the earth but the help of vaccines may help weaken it.

In his words yesterday; “The intention of allowing each state to handle the issue mainly at their level on the principle of subsidiarity was a good opinion.

“It permits each state with its limited resources and facilities to harness itself and to provide guidelines and on restrictions based on the reality of the state".

Still speaking, he warned Nigerians not to think that the country had survived the disaster just because the Federal and State Governments had loosened the restrictions.

He further stressed on some areas which the nation needs immediate attention to include food availability, diversification of the economy and employment could be sustained during the COVID -19 periods.
