House of Reps begin processing the release of Lance Corporal Idakpein



News reaching our desk says Nigerian House of Reps has began the process that will free Lance Corporal Martins Idakpein from military detection.

 Recall that Lance Corporal Martins Idakpein, who has been in military detention for allegedly making a video where he criticized the Chief of Army Staff and other service Chiefs over the continues killing of Nigerians by terrorists.

In their plenary session yesterday, Thursday, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu the Minority Leader of the house moved a motion to call for idakpein's immediate release.

Lance Corporal ldakpein in a viral video has criticised the chief of army staff and other service chiefs over the poor handling of Boko haram insurgency in the northeast.

Lance Corporal Idakpein was serving in the 8 Division of the Nigerian, Sokoto.

Thereafter, Idakpein was arrested on the orders of the COAS and was moved from Sokoto to Abuja.

Subsequently, Mrs Victoria, wife to Lance Idakpein was also arrested after calling for the release of her husband.

As at today, 2nd of July 2020, Lance corporal martins Idakpein has been held in military detention in the FCT, and his wife who made attempt to rescue him was also arrested and detained, but was released few hours ago according to reports.

Hon. Elumelu further stated that though the armed forces act section 122 forbids the perpetual detention of an officer.

The house therefore mandated that Lance Corporal Iakpein be
brought before the relevant committee and leadership to brief them of the happenings in the northeast.
