Man claimed he was protecting himself and his wife from Coronavirus By pushing Another Man off

A man identified as Nachem Gross, 72 has been arrested after pushing an elder man Gerald Steiglitz 86, from a lift in Miami Beach apartment block.

A CCTV footage showed the man pushing the victim out of a lift while claiming he was protecting himself and his wife from Coronavirus.

In the footage, Gross is seen holding up his two fingers, believed to be in reference to the two-person lift rule, before pushing Steiglitz, causing him to fall.

Gross later handed himself into Miami Beach Police and he has now been released on bond. He is currently facing charges of aggravated battery of an elderly person.

Defending himself, the accused claims he was simply attempting to abide by the building’s advice on social distancing, meaning only two people at a time can use the lifts.

On the other hand, the victim told NBC Miami he had suffered a bruise on his upper thigh. He also claimed he and the accused were friendly before the incidence.

Meanwhile, the accused lawyer is calling for the charges to be dropped – describing it as “stand your ground” incident.
